For starters, don't beat yourself up. You're in good company. Many a traditional marketing expert has found him- or herself, like you, simply too busy.

The good news is, others jumped in blindly, made mistakes — and in the process, cleared the path.

Why Don't I Feel Better: The Truth About Positive Affirmations and Self Help Books?

"I am successful," "I am a wonderful person," "I will find love again," and many other similar phrases that students, the broken-hearted and unfulfilled employees may repeat to themselves over and over again, hoping to change their lives. Self-help books through the ages, from Norman Vincent Peale's The Power of Positive Thinking all the way to the latest, The Secret, have encouraged people with low self-esteem to make positive self-statements or affirmations.

New research suggests it may do more harm than good to many people.

Using Shifting Sands: A Guidebook for Crossing the Deserts of Change, by Steve Donahue

As a society, we are trained from our earliest years to approach our lives like mountain climbers. From the time we enter school we are supposedly being taught what to pack for life’s journey. By our teens, we have often laid out a detailed map and a kit of tools to our life and we are keenly aware of where our life journey is meant to go and where the summit is. Soon after starting that journey, however, we discover that life has its own paths, surprises and unexpected summits and challenges waiting for us.

The Impact of Poor Self-Esteem on Our Children

In the news this week were several articles about dating abuse in “tweens” who are kids between the ages of 10 and 14. The abuse experienced was mostly emotional and mental abuse. Rarer, they reported, was physical abuse which was most prevalent in those 14 year olds who were having sex.
