The Racism that Resides within us causes the “F” Bomb!

Even in 2009, the beginning of the 21ST century, racism is still prevalent because of a lack of understanding and moral blindness; it has birthed many of society’s ills and significantly fails to appreciate the many differences in the biological and physical characteristics of individuals. It is a cause for wonder.

What’s Divorce Got to Do with It?

Tina Turner made a singing comeback in 1984 with her hit song, "What's Love Got to Do with It?"
My husband, a family law specialist in San Francisco has recently
worked with some male clients, who I call alpha males, struggling
through their respective divorces. Tina Turner claims that "love is a
second-hand emotion." However, from what I am hearing, anger, blame,

Nonsense At Work

Morning sickness:

I have morning sickness. When I wake up it hits me. Not the nausea, the memory. The memory of what lies ahead hits me first. Then the nausea strikes.

Not so long ago I used to wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to face the day, with a chirpy ‘good morning, world’. Now I wake up already tired from restless sleep and the thought of the day ahead. Another day worrying about money. Another day reduced to thinking about work - looking for, applying for, hoping for.

Nonsense At Work

Manage fear, not action:

I worry about the fear in the workplace. Don’t get me wrong. A little fear is a useful management tool. But I’m talking about too much fear of the kind we have today.

Too much fear makes us do stupid things. Like freeze when we should run or run when we should stand still. In the moment of fear we just don’t know which is right.

Neither do managers. Managers are taught to manage action, not emotions behind actions.

Nonsense At Work

Expect more fear in the work place:

Many unpleasant things can happen during a recession. Here’s one that I hope you won’t promote nor experience. More fear in the workplace.

During an economic upswing workers become scarce and thus more powerful. This means that the boss must put on kid gloves and make nice with employees.

But during a recession, jobs are scarce and workers lose power. Bosses become more powerful, the gloves come off and fear returns to the work place.

Today is Monday, so this post is on Self Confidence.

On Friday, this quote, courtesy of Chris Widener, popped up in my in box. “What worries you, masters you,” Haddon W. Robinson.
