People. You can't go out and have a good time in New York without money. And if you are starting up a blog or a social media / social network empire, you have two choices. Make it really big really fast and sell it off. Or, grow it with focus, niche-seeking content writers, and don't worry so much about advertising. Apparently, only 8% are reading it anyway.

I've been working in my current role for about one and a half years, casting a net into a huge ocean of financial executives and looking for huge fish to secure, bring home, and enlist as corporate speakers in the live events that we do.

The basic method is: find the big fish, get them on the program, and then create marketing literature and web page content that attracts that big fish's cohorts.

The Scribd Store, which opened this morning in beta, is the latest online venture that could change the way the ailing publishing industry staggers into the 21st century. Scribd has been live for two years now, and until today, has been entirely free; the Scribd Store will provide a new avenue for authors and publishers to sell their wares, both commercially--and self-published. The site will take 20% of each sale, according to the AP.
