The Why Revolution

Somthing my friend Andrew Crosthwaite at Global Innovation Network just sent me. It reminds me of something about the '7 levels of why' that I had in my head for at least five years - but never managed to write down. See if it strikes a chord with you too.

The New Accountability: Felix Unger Will Stop Paying for Oscar Madison

There was a story in a recent Wall Street Journal about a new technology that lets insurance companies reward safe drivers with “deep discounts.” Progressive and GMAC will be rolling out a digital back seat driver that tracks not just mileage – that’s old news – but how fast you drive, how hard you hit the brakes, and other habits.

We Are Now 7 of Us

Hanh mitakuyapi. In the way of my People and many other ITI, 7 is a holy number. When we pray, we address 7 Directions - The Four Directions of N, E, S, & W, and Tunkashila (Grandfather), Unchi Maka Ina Wakan (Grandmother Earth, our Holy Mother the Earth), and Wakan Tanka (the Great Mystery, also called the Great Holy, or Spirit - It is what makes the universe alive). This being A Good Thing, I just thought I'd let you know.

Are You Blind To Innovation?

One of the strange things about innovation is that it happens in plain sight, whilst most people are looking the other way.

After watching Seth Godin’s talk on TED I realised some of the most basic things that we now consider as every day essentials to modern life, started out as the innovative ideas that we at first..ignored!

Journalist, PR Consultant, Mom, Wife, Recovering Tech Writer

When you're thinking about your own brand on the Net - think in terms of how one might design and build a beautiful piece of architecture. Each piece is integral to the other, even those that are decorative serve an important part to the overall strength and complexity of the structure.

Frank Lloyd Wright said, "I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen."

Green Innovation Drivers -- What the community says

The question asked in our most recent informal innovation poll was
“What drivers of Green Innovation do see in your organization?” What
did you say about this?

Two green drivers stood out in your responses: customer demand and
competitive pressure. This is good news to advocates of green as it
shows free market forces are aligning with the socially responsible
business movement. This also suggests that the early claims of Porter
and van der Linde1,2 may be proven true with a change in tide.

How Big Is a Micro-Business Loan?

Hanh mitakuyapi. Recently, I was helping some people apply for a startup loan for a micro-business when one of the bureaucrats asked me about the size of the loan we were seeking. He thought it was "awfully small, especially if these people are serious about building a business".
We told him that the business is intended to be a micro-business and its orientation is to keep a family solvent and off welfare, not build another General Motors or Toyota.
This upset him so, he nearly tossed the application in the trash!
There's a problem with his attitude, here, Houston.... and D.C...

Micro-entrepreneurs
