Connecting With Computers Through Mud

Tom Gerhardt's mud computer, one of the projects on display at NYU's ITP spring show 2009, is a keyboard replacement made entirely of the squishy stuff. According to Gerhardt, the Mud Tub pioneers a "new open-ended interaction typology where prescriptive goals are centered around states, rather than specific user manipulation".

Asus' Eee Keyboard: The Tiny Media PC You've Been Waiting For?

One oddity that popped up at CES last week was the Asus Eee Keyboard--it's basically an entire functioning PC with a 5-inch touchscreen display crammed into not much more space than a conventional dumb QWERTY unit.

Logitech Announces Ultra-Thin Keyboard

For those of us who are in love with ultra-thin electronics, Logitech [NASDAQ:LOGI] has heeded our call. It's releasing three keyboards this week, one of which is only 9.3mm thick. Priced at $80 and set to come to market in October, the Illuminated Keyboard sports an adjustable backlight and media hot-keys, as well as a soft palm-rest. And while most aftermarket keyboards aren't exactly lookers, the Illuminated Keyboard features a subtle black enclosure, few showy markings, and a very sober, digital-looking key font.
