Rumor: Sluggish Palm Pre Sales Put Second webOs Project on Hold

Palm's Pre may have hit the news with a big splash, but a hot rumor has just suggested that the follow-up phone, codenamed Pixie, may now be on hold because the Pre's sales weren't quite as good as hoped.

Get off the swing Steve Jobs. Its time to give someone else a turn.

Wow! Is it a great time to be a lawyer or what? It seems that Apple has been locked in court, as both defendant and plaintiff, for the last couple years over petty school yard crap. Now they are planning to sue Palm for the right to use gestures on the touchscreen.

Um…..I’ve been using palm devices for, what, over 10 years now and I could swear the screen has been operating with GESTURES of my stylus, which is quite a LOT like a really skinny FINGER, on every model I’ve owned…….WTF?

By now i’m sure you’ve heard about/seen the video for the newest Palm phone Pre. If not you can see the panty wetting (if you’re a geek gurl like me) video tease at Palm.com. I have been waiting for Palm to come up with this darling since I upgraded from Treo 655 to Treo 755P because I have not been happy with the 755P and have in fact turned it in for a replacement about 5 times in a year.

Palm [NASDAQ:PALM] didn't do such a hot job of keeping this thing under wraps, but that doesn't make it any less interesting to the smartphone community. The Treo Pro unfurled its red carpet months ago when a whole littany of leaked photos and leaked promotional materials made their way onto the Web, but now it's getting official: the Treo Pro will be sold unlocked, without a carrier.
