The photo-led social network founded by ex-Facebooker Dave Morin has run into trouble after a user discovered the program had robo-called and texted his parents, grandparents, and even his plumber. The firm has called the debacle a user-error and denied any data-collection shenanigans.
The social diary app cofounded by former Facebooker Dave Morin took three years to reach 6 million users. Now, Morin says Path is adding a million users a week, less than two months after the debut of a new version of the app that includes private messaging and premium packs of virtual stickers.
The newest version of the social networking app features custom-designed virtual stickers for $1.99 a pack. Cofounder Dave Morin explains why he thinks they'll have, um, sticking power.
The intimate social networking app got slammed with FTC allegations that it collected personal data without users' permission, including from children without parental consent.
"One thing we've heard a lot from our users is that they'd really like to relive their old moments," says Nate Johnson, Path's VP of marketing. "That need for nostalgia--it's an innate human trait."
