AOL Buying Gadget Site Gdgt.com
AOL is again boosting its tech publishing portfolio.
As recently rumored [3], AOL has revealed [4] it is indeed purchasing gadget logging/review site [5] Gdgt.com [6] for an undisclosed fee. Cofounders Ryan Block and Peter Rojas [7] will move into AOL's tech publishing wing, with Block becoming head of product (according to data received by TechCrunch--another AOL property [8]) and Rojas maintaining Gdgt.com and becoming editor-at-large at popular tech blog Engadget.
Block used to edit Engadget, and Rojas founded the site--they've reportedly earned a "high" seven figure payout for their new site, which lets consumers log their gadget hoard and acts as de facto review portal.
