Now exhibiting at the Art Basel show in Miami, McGinness is famous for using the visual language of public spaces (signs, logos, and other branding schwag) to create images that are fantastical and violent and somehow as pacifying as television, and this series of drawings, entitled "Women: the Blacklight Paintings," decodes some of McGinness's work with Gestalt shapes.
Enjoy the slideshow excerpt of his above, and if you can't make it to Miami to see his full exhibition, then you should absolutely check out his recent book, in which he documents his work ethic, his studio setup, and his method with plenty of gorgeous photos (and a bunch of thoughtful anectdotes).
If you're a gallery die-hard, you may want to see where else he'll be showing in 2011.
Book available now from Amazon. Price: $35.
