John Green is a best-selling American author and one half of the brother duo behind VlogBrothers—the YouTube channel Green runs with his brother Hank Green. Green's debut novel, Looking for Alaska (2005), earned him the Printz Award for young adult literature. His sixth novel, The Fault in Our Stars, debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list in 2012, and its 2014 film adaptation also debuted at No. 1 at the box office. Green is known for his dedication to his fans, affectionately dubbed Nerdfighters. That dedication has helped him build one of the most passionate fanbases in literature. At the time of The Fault's debut, he agreed to sign the entire first printing of the novel: 150,000 copies. In 2014, Time listed him as one of its 100 most influential people in the world. VlogBrothers, which launched in early 2007, now has 2.7 million YouTube subscribers for its often goofy content that follows the channel's mantra of "raising nerdy to the power of awesome." The pair also runs the blog and newsletter Nerdfighteria, which catalogs the Greens' projects and interests alongside contributions from the Nerdfighter community. Green and his wife, Sarah Urist Green, also cohost The Art Assignment—an interactive PBS Digital Studios series that premiered in 2014 and encourages viewers to create art using assignments from contemporary artists. Up next, Green will try to find time to pen a new book—all the while keeping up his close connection with the Nerdfighter family.
