Prior to joining Pinterest, David Rubin was the director of marketing for Axe, the most popular fragrance for young men. There, his team sold college kids on the idea that fragrance can equal sex, and trolled college campuses and keggers on trend-hunting missions.

The proposition of Axe is it helps guys be attractive to women. Because of that, women are our proof point. I mean, we can't make guys more attractive to girls if the girls don't agree with us.
