Vidya Shaker, PMP is a Program Manager driving the Security Compliance Review Enforcement and Audit Management (SCREAM) Program for Global Service Operations, aligning security and privacy requirements across online services at Microsoft. Prior to creating and building out the SCREAM program, Shaker worked on the monitoring program and Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) implementation for Hotmail/Windows Live Mail, then moving on to become Hotmail's Security Champion. In her role as Operations PM for Cisco Systems in San Jose, CA, she focused on Compliance, Change and Risk Management as part of the IT Governance rollout in Cisco's Release Management Office. Shaker has years of experience in the IT security field, having worked with government and enterprise customers on areas including: risk & change management, BCP/DRP, application & operations security, and compliance, where she demonstrates expertise.
In addition to nearly 20 years of experience, her sidebar profession in the media "technicolorizes" her technology industry experience. Ms. Shaker, chosen Outstanding Graduate of the Journalism program for Wayne State University's class of 1992, has been an award-winning television producer and journalist for PBS, CBS, CNN and various magazines such as CRN, Lightwave, HR Executive Magazine, and siliconindia, covering technology, diversity and the workforce since the late '80's. Having been a Panelist, Speaker and/or Host for nationally recognized industry events, like the IT Consulting World Conference in New York/New Jersey, as well as the E-biz Conference in San Jose, she holds the resulting benefit of strong relationship building, quick comprehension & communication skills which she leverages in Project and Program Management. Shaker currently serves on the Board of the Bay area Agile Project Leadership Network(www.apln.org), and participates actively in PMI (www.pmi.org), as Director of the PMI Silicon Valley Chapter (www.pmisv.org) Newsletter and upcoming interactive news portal. She is currently a lead for PMI's Program Management Standards 2nd edition, which is scheduled for publication later in the year.
