A scribble on Scribd

Scribd Looks to be The YouTube of Documents | InternetNews Realtime IT News

Now this looks interesting; could I do a presentation at a client's office using this tool if I had internet access, I wonder?

And if it's Flash-based, how hard would it be to for a developer to add form completion functionality? (am I thinking about an Adobe Quicksilver "overlay" here? hmm...)

Googley-eyed at the prospects of Google Health

Getting Healthy With Google - Google Health Pilot Program - ReadWriteWeb

This has a lot of promise; so much of the cost of health care is bound up in records management that any possible improvement is a good thing. Naturally the downside is privacy and data security. Will this be an enterprise-based system, wherein records from a particular entity are retained in servers under the physical control of a health care provider? Or will Google become the main repository?

Fast Talk Response -

I'm in Michigan. We're ahead of the curve here, already entrenched in a recession. I fear less for myself than others, because I know it's going to be much worse. Credit will continue to tighten until all the damage from years of too much and too easy credit has been shaken out of the system. We are going to have to consider bail-outs to banks in the very near-term. (See http://riskmoment.com/ralm/2008/02/13/uncategorized/shift-risk-to-uncle-...) Until we get this cleared up, while juggling increasing inflation due to rising fuel prices, it's going to be a tough slog.

Comment on Node ant

Agree with Susanne -- but it all depends on the reasons why one blogs. If a person is blogging for their own personal amusement, "well enough" is completely up to them. Because a blogger posts something out here in the void doesn't mean they intend to be a commercial success; blogging is merely a digital diary, an online journal at its core.

Fast Talk Response -

Let's back up and define the first two iterations:

Web 1.0 = the environment in which we first realized we could share information across a network on demand, to be utilized at our desks and local work spaces (ex. I'll email you a purchase order for something I saw on your website)

Comment on Node ant

How does Yang see Yahoo!? I think that's a fundamental question here. Yahoo! started as a web portal, and for all intents and purposes, remains a portal with extra bells and whistles attached to it to encourage users to remain within the portal. This is vastly different from a company based on search technology. If Yang still sees Yahoo! as such, the equation changes completely. It also matters greatly what the directors believe Yahoo! to be; it doesn't appear that the board is in sync with Yang, and therefore have an entirely different idea what Yahoo! (and what it's worth to them).
