Comment on Node ant

Unfortunately I think that as health care costs continue upward there will be more and more temptation by insurance companies to discriminate more and more (even to the point of using genetic information) Recent proposed legislation is trying to head that off.

Also, is anyone else getting these "access denied to this page" errors? This site continues to struggle on the IT side.

Fast Talk Response -

Umm...
Smaller people or larger cell phones.
Or... a circumstance that is painful enough in itself to make that lil tiny bit of entertainment seem by relative terms...pleasurable...
A long layover in an airport, a cooped up bus ride or jail...

Fast Talk Response -

First of all...as is often the case on this site... "the boss"...What does that even mean?

Secondly, while this sounds noble, in practice, a lot of people in the organization (especially leadership) have to be out of the office a fair amount.
-to meet with customers, potential customers, other various stakeholders in community

Fast Talk Response -

"Come off as...strong leader"
There are several weird interconnected things to consider.

#1. Organizational Behavior theory... in how "analyticals", "expressives", "drivers" and "amiables" relate to others including a leader.

#2.Even weirder...psychological stuff in how any given "follower" was raised Mother figure, father figure...abuse...etc.

#3. Then there's a "group perception" like Hillary faces where
she has the stink of the B word
on her and cant shake that group perception.

Fast Talk Response -

You would hate to think that if you are John Doe and there's a few other John Doe's in the world,,,,that may have done "no telling what" that you'd be overlooked because of such potential confusion.

That said, I would consider it a tool. But one used with extreme extreme EXTREME caution.

The FAR LARGER focus SHOULD BE on whether John Doe can do the job or not.

If it appears that John's been at the Fire Island Barn dance or a wet t shirt contest is a likely scenario regardless of who you hire if you dig long enough.

I think "slow down... MY career" is coming from the "me" generation of I want what I want,,, I want it NOW... and no one better get in the way.

However... The realities of downsizings, NAFTA/CAFTA job offshorings, the normal family birth decisions...and now even more and more aging parents living longer...has changed everything.

So, now... In fact..Lots of things... including having a child(ren), changing careers 3 to 7 times, and assisting aging parents are just a few of the things that "slow down" "YOUR" career.

Fast Talk Response -

My gut feel was...a solid no.
In practice, maybe it's yes.
And its called a 1/2 day personal day.

Our "convenience" filled lives seem
to turn into a "hurry up and wait"
more and more...whether its the
backed up highways of the commute or
its the inconvenient truth of the AC unit going out.

So unless you have a spouse just sitting around..haha...you take off for this stuff and doctors appointments and dentist and..car repair and so on...
