 <description>&lt;p&gt;Mr. Sussman has offered a plausible defense of his business model that&#039;s too provocative to ignore. Here&#039;s my reply. To begin with, Mr. Sussman need not defend his model. He did, as I said, &quot;take the plunge&quot;. And that&#039;s not to be sneezed  at. One therefore wishes him well, provided that Fast Company editorial can resist the tempation to gatekeep its online readership/members, which with the present model it can not do. Sure - a &quot;conversation&quot; (as Mr. Sussman puts it)  will presumably occur. But, what kind of a conversation will it be?&lt;/p&gt;
