Fast Talk Response -

Coffee's a tough nut: it's not inexpensive to startup or manage a shop, and the margins are sensitive to market conditions (oil prices, milk prices). Two coffee shops opened recently within the two-block walk to my office in Manhattan. Both of them charge more for a large, black coffee than Starbucks does. I don't find either cup better than Starbuck's bold offerings (their Pike's Place, OTOH, I can do without ...)

No editing of blog posts or comments once submitted?

Hmmmm ... I saw I had an erroneous URL in my previous blog post, but I had no way to edit it.

there's also no apparent way to stay logged in to this site.

:UPDATE: You can update blog posts, but only from the My Blog front page. Interesting. Glad I was wrong about Editing.

Inactive Groups on FastCompany.com

I've been a member of the Web Analytics group since joining FastCompany.com

I posted once in February and another today. No responses to either.

There are nominally 11 members of this group. I'd best most or all of them have some good insights to share. I'd love to hear from them; what's the best way of mobilizing this group?

Fast Talk Response -

Not many people in any profession embrace change. Doctors are generally on the latter part of the adoption curve. eRecords are new, different, expensive, and "get in the way" of care during the adoption phase.

The benefit is less for the doctor herself than for the insurance company and the patient who may want to take her records to another physician.

Fast Talk Response -

Several factors are likely:

- "There may be a gap in the market, but is there a market in the gap?"
- Difficulty with a price point that would not sabotage MacBook sales
- The iPhone's relatively recent market availability: needs penetration and maturity
- It's being actively worked on, but not yet "perfected"
