Many of the apps you mentioned are really nice for smaller projects. On my team we use a Google spreadsheet to share the enhancement list and track bugs for our app. I think many of these online apps will get better in the next generation when they are developed/moved to RIA platforms like Flash and Silverlight. IMHO the avascript frameworks that most of them are currently utilizing are too constraining (from the programming perspective). I just can't see javascript providing the capability to duplicate features found in Excel, Word, or even Lotus 123.

I think so, but they shouldn't try to compete directly with Facebook and MySpace. Keep it proffesionally oriented. Stay away from ad-spamming people's pages. Try to keep it subtle. Most of all, it will take 12 - 18 months for this to play out. Don't blow all your money up front on crazy marketing schemes!
