Right now, the only Philippine tech startup that I know of is Morph Labs(www.mor.ph). They just successfully concluded Morph Code, an event that brought together entrepreneurs and ideas targeted at web 2.0 and SaaS. It was held in Ateneo de Manila University. I missed the event though.

Fast Talk Response -

Being the first one in and last one out does not guarantee that a person is efficient. It can actually be a sign of declining efficiency. Quality output is more important than being the first person in or the last person to leave the office. I say No to this practice.

In my experience, imposing a structure is usually felt by the employee during evaluation and feedback. Criticism of one's work and output is a very sensitive process which very much often dictates how an employee perceives a structure which you are trying to implement.

Guide the employees on how to work with the structure you wish to implement. Give them an idea of what is acceptable and what is exemplary, as opposed to giving them an "acceptable and not acceptable" scenario.

1. With Yahoo on the ropes, I think some of the biggest headlines would focus on the big 3, Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo.
2. Social platforms. There's a lot out there, and it's not like blogs that people don't need to keep up with all of them. Having to sign up on several social platforms just to keep up with contacts and friends is getting messy. Sooner or later end-users will be exhausted keeping up with all of them. 2008 might not be that year, but I think we will hear some of it this year.

It would be nice to tackle emerging online platforms, opinion and experience with beta testing these online applications.

Fast Talk Response -

- Before expanding, make sure all systems and business processes can sustain growth. Do not expand too soon
- Before considering an expansion, evaluate your current capabilities. Most likely you will find an area or an aspect of the company which you will need to improve on.
- Never expand at the cost of quality whether it be customer service quality, product quality, or quality of personnel

I agree with Whelan, for discipline not to be undermined by flex time, there are definitely a lot of IFs that need to be addressed in a workplace.
