Comment on Node ant

This is an election year so our headlines can pretty much be authored now and the names can be filled in later. But headlines that might slip in to the media in between the talk of "Change" from our politicians (whatever that means) is likely to be associated with alternative fuel / hybrid vehicle design.

Comment on Node ant

Hi Sherri,
As with most categories / groups there is a great deal of overlap in potential topics to explore. As moderator of this group, I'm interested in knowing more about the profile of the fastcompany.com site visitors and of the magazine readership. That might help determine the topics with which to seed this group. Also, at what point would you like to / plan to proactively invite readers into the various groups and am I able to do so?

Scott

When posting a job in My Profile: Professional History...

...the Current Work Status choices pulldown does not really have an appropriate choice for previous jobs, assuming "Current Work Status" is a reference to the specific job that you are posting. Meaning, if I'm entering a previous job then I don't really need the Current Work Status option....or perhaps you only have the Current Work Status option after you click the check box for this is the current position. Not sure best resolution for this.

When Adding Careers to Your Profile...

...the older start date is 2005. Can't seem to state that jobs started prior to '05.

Also, as I type this post I see that it by default will be associated with the Topics that I have expressed interest in. Seems like that default setting will result in alot of content being indexed into topic areas that are not relevant.

Fast Talk Response -

Big question Saabira. Short answer -- Don't over-hire. Hire smart people on a probationary period as contractors. They'll see how much room their is to progess. Challenge them, and keep those that are enthusiastic and hard working and that see the opportunity ahead of them at your growing company.
