I don't think it will be obliterated. But I can see it lessened dramatically. It will be for only the most important of meetings or conferences.

I hope Al Gore means directly adding a tax to the price of a product based upon its carbon footprint. If he means taxing people directly based upon how green their behavior is, not only would that be impossible to measure, it would be wrong to invade their privacy so.

Certain pieces of entertainment or art will thrive despite an economy that tanks. Dark Knight was an event and was successful because of the quality of the film. The same thing can be said about certain video games. People can't be frugal all the time. They sometimes need to give in to an impulse and splurge on something -- whether it is a night out or even a shiny new gadget.

Video is Everywhere

Last week at E3, both Microsoft and Sony made announcements related to video. Microsoft announced a partnership with Netflix to make streaming video available on the Xbox 360. Microsoft also announced an expansion of the console's video download service to include films and television shows from NBC, Universal and MGM.

Considering the tens of millions Guitar Hero and Rock Band have made on downloadable songs, this very well could prove true. The Holy Grail for this genre is someone to lock-up Beatles songs. That will move like hotcakes.

The Watchmen Movie Trailer and Niche Marketing

Last night, Warner Bros. released online the trailer for the film adaptation of graphic novel Watchmen. After a two second conflict with myself over whether I should wait to see the teaser in the theater -- it is attached to The Dark Knight -- I clicked on the play button.

Wow.

In his blog post, It's the End of Blogging as We Know It, Norman Birnbach discusses Jason Calacanis' announcement that he would quit blogging and stick with sending messages to a mailing list of friends and followers. Norman goes on to say that he agrees with TechCrunch that this move won't matter, because someone will just post the emails from Calacanis in a blog.
