My point was that we don't know how the brain works. We think some pain is inevitable--just like we think some waste and friction is inevitable. But these observations are based on our emotional experience. There is some significant rational and scientific evidence to suggest that hyper-efficient systems are about to arise, which will allow a goodly portion of us to labor without what Po calls shit work, and for machines to operate without waste adn for the economy to grow faster and more efficiently without destroying the environment.

Those interested in these questions might find my site www.whiteg.com interesting. There is more evidence for an immediate future ripe with dripping "neurotransmitters of joy" than conventional experts know, Mr. Bronson included.

You seem eager to blame the US. The difference between a terrorist attack or a Chinese bank collapse (which likely wouldn't affect US to the degree that a US collapse would affect them)--the difference between these and the current problem is that a) a terrorist attack would have been done in malice and b) a Chinese bank problem would likely have been the result of sub-standard financial practices applied in a sub-standard political economy. The Chinese have all sorts of inefficiencies and anti-market mechanisms in their system. Not to mention anti-freedom mechanisms.

They're not qualified to run it. That would be like a bunch of parts suppliers taking over a car manufacturer. It ain't broke and it don't need fixin'. (Though I personally would make one small adjustment. I'd allow prices for content--songs, movies, books, television shows--to float according to demand. See www.whiteg.com for more about this. It would yield incredible global results in economic, political, cultural and personal terms.)
