 <description>&lt;p&gt;Agree with Ian that cash flow is key.  If financial viability isn&#039;t in the fabric of a web 2.0 service/product, it&#039;s not going to make it.  It all goes back to the basics.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also, the service needs to provide a real solution to something the world (or a specific subset of it) needs.    If, it&#039;s just a fad and doesn&#039;t really provide value for people (like many social media frenzies), I don&#039;t think they&#039;ll stick.&lt;/p&gt;
