There are many chairs that are known to be comfortable, period.

If there really is an issue with women's shapes (how many women did their "study" study, and who the heck were these obese cylinders?), then try and design a "flexible chair" whose armchairs could adjust to the shape of a person. Of whatever gender and shape.

The results of these "studies" are as spurious and stupid as the studies themselves.

Great. A mainstream article about him. Not quite the "guerilla" anymore now is he?

Silly hero movies have always been popular because the mass-normal is pretty silly. Or simple. Depending on whom you ask. This has nothing to do with a recession. And I don't think indies like Little Miss Sunshine or The Visitor will stop making intelligent cinema just because an economy is in the doldrums. Stop perpetuating the Cassandra call with thoughtless articles such as this.

First we invent a new term for information and opinion sharing (or being the first at it, because the "sofa" matters), and then when the next new term comes along, we sweat it out. Clever.

Call it what you will -- blog, microblog, macroblog, mammothblog, ultrablog, moblog, schmatazaaschtickblog -- the point is that people have something to say and use whatever tool is available to them.

Some of them will be interesting and educated and will therefore attract and retain a readership, others will come and go.

So. Get over it. Get something real to write about.

Fast Talk Response -

To the specific question, "Google's *first* smartphone", the answer is no. This HTC dud is hardly a threat. Some first movers may give it a shot out of sheer curiosity. But that's it.

I'm surprised Google went with this crappy device but then there aren't many options other than Blackberry and Nokia, which are themselves deeply entrenched in their OSes.

Fast Talk Response -

I am not against redesigns. But a massive overhaul of the UI has to come from solid rationale about why and what will change. The new design basically breaks in big monitor browsers that have a minimum font size (while the old design didn't) and the tabs are not as intuitive as before.

The bigger problem, however, is the opacity of personalizing the privacy settings. I would like my Notes to be visible to my friends, but I do NOT wish for my Notes to show up on my front page Wall. Try setting this up. I'll give a $1,000 award to anyone who make this VERY SIMPLE thing possible.

If ISPs are worried about the bandwidth consumption, they should consider sitting at the negotiation table with merchants such as Amazon or Google to revenue-share. Leave customers out of the equation.

Second solution: Internet is a utility. Over time, when bandwidth becomes REALLY cheap, then we can "meter" Internet usage like water or electricity.

Chrome is not tangibly faster. The "pros" end there.

Chrome has next to no functionality. A user who is on Firefox or Maxthon (IE) is there because of all the plugins and customized functionality. Chrome is a useless little gimmick for now. If I wanted the speed of its WebKit from Apple, I'd just use Safari which has more functionality than Chrome.

No cigar. Sorry.

Lets talk again when their privacy settings work, when I can set my Notes NOT to show up in my Wall, and so on. Until then, it's a baloney site made popular by people who seem to have pretty low requirements to throw pokes at each other.

Gena Jackson. You seem to conclude that everyone who liked Seinfeld the show will also like a dinky product simply because Seinfeld endorses it. Fortunately, the world doesn't think like you. Comedians cannot save tragedies as colossal as Microsoft is in 2008.
