Comment on Node ant

Even though thinking about "green" issues has become somewhat mainstream, personally, I think the communication around sustainability still tends to be slightly elitist, very left-of-center politically, and way too abstract. That needs fixing first of all. I'm not sure I'd criticize corporate efforts on this front for being self-serving if they are indeed sustainable efforts ("greenwashing" is another story).

Comment on Node ant

It seems that many people are skipping over the "There's no greater crime" part. Baring breasts full-on may be tacky, but it's far from the worst professional move for a woman to make. Obviously, the statement is hyperbolic, but, IMHO, there's much more than a smidgen of hyperbole--the statement is pretty ridiculous. Now that I think of it more, showing cleavage might not even be inappropriate, depending on the setting and how it is done: are we talking a tasteful yet feminine cut of the suit or something akin to what a stripper would wear?

I agree with Susan that technology can both encourage and impair creativity, but I think Richard Watson isn't necessarily off base. There will always be creative people, but people who aren't naturally inclined toward creativity are more likely not to even try if there's a ready-made tool for "creativity" in front of them. One example: those "creative" PowerPoint presentations. Often there's the false impression that anything that uses the latest technology is automatically creative.

Fast Talk Response -

It might if people interpret being "green" as buying products that are slightly more expensive but built to last, so that we wouldn't have to manufacture as much. But who's really thinking about that when they're at H&M? Plus, as Saabira points out, "disposable" products actually can last a good while if you take care of them.

Fast Talk Response -

It used to be the former for me, but over the past year or so it's become the latter. Facebook's a good way to keep connected--you just have to be careful of exactly how much and what sort of information you put up there.

Internet Marketing Conference New York 2008

The stage is set for a very interesting development of mobile marketing. Apple has released the iPhone and Google is backing the Android Platform. IMC believes that every company of significance needs to have a strategy for reaching people on the move, or it will miss out on business opportunities.

AOL Buys Social Network Bebo

Yesterday, AOL announced its pending acquisition of Bebo, the third largest social network in the United States, for $850 million. The announcement comes amid ongoing speculation of where AOL and its parent company Time Warner fit in Microsoft's battle for Yahoo!
