It seems like nonprofits make it a lot easier for businesses to become a good citizen in their community. Because some businesses are so busy with their own dealings, they might not have the time or expertise to really diagnose what the needs are in their communities. Since nonprofit organizations have experience in diagnosing the issues and solving them,it would definitely be more efficient for a business to piggy back the nonprofit and provide them with capital if they didn't have the time.

The CEO's of the big three really did not help their cause in the last couple weeks by flying to DC in private jets. Even though they came to DC this week in hybrids, the damage had already been done in the public's eye. The leadership at these companies have done a terrible job of not promoting innovation or incorporating new technologies into their vehicles even though it was clearly apparent that their foreign competitors were. Even though it would be a huge hit to our economy and many jobs would be lost, it is my opinion that we should not bail them all out.

I think this article really brings up a good point in that what companies are marketing in their advertisements should be taking with a grain of salt and investigate to see if they complete truths. Unfortunately many people are easily swayed by the messages in advertisements, and that is why they are so effective. Because companies will typically never mention a product's faults, I think people should be more proactive in putting in the research into an issue/product they care about to find out if a company is being unethical and making false claims or telling half truths.

This is really a great way to promote recycling with youth. I complete agree that it is a much more effective way of doing it than putting up posters. While there are costs to recycling, it is vital that the youth are informed of how precious our natural resources are. Unfortunately, my opinion is that kids these days are growing up in a material, incentive-laden society, and providing a reward is probably the only way of getting a message through to them.

I agree that food crops should not be used as an alternative fuel. There are too many people starving in this world and country today to be using ethanol to fuel our cars. Ethanol is a very inefficient source of fuel and requires substantial amounts of corn to produce it. It is in my opinion, that algae as an alternative fuel is one of the better solutions for our energy crisis.
