The hardware and the end result may be the same, but some people are willing to pay for a different experience. The worth of a premium brand is determined by the consumer who actually spend their own money, because money speaks. However, personally, I will go for the Panasonic over Leica unless I win lottery.

It sounds cheap, but not in the end if you don't particularly 'need' iPhone itself. Consider the amount of money that you'd have to folk over to AT&T for 2 years before you buy that $99 3G iPhone. If you don't need an iPhone, buy a stand alone GPS and save your money.

Another perfect example is BMW's 1st generation iDrive a few years ago. Many didn't know whether to describe it mind-boggling or a nightmare.

Right on! However, I hope Shimano won't price the new designed product so that only a few could afford. Better design is great, but the product has to be reasonably priced as well. :-)

Interesting and wonderful. But, what if you just bought a brand new car? You wouldn't want to exchange your brand new battery with one that's been used many times.

One clear advantage to Blackberry over iPhone is Verizon--the most reliable network in US. However, as a very loyal Verizon customer, I am willing to crossover and try iPhone when my current contract with Verizon expires. If Verizon wants to keep me, first, Storm's price has to match iPhone's price. Second, Blackberry should invite all the Apple apps developers and provide their cool apps to Verizon users as well.

As a PC user, I was beginning to feel somewhat insulted and belittled by recent Apple ads. I thought Apple was cool, but these ads made me think twice about Apple. Sure, it was fun in the beginning, but not anymore. There is a fine line between funny and mean. I see enough negative attacks between politicians these days. Apple can enjoy watching its fans beat up Microsoft, but it becomes a totally different game when Apple decides to join the fight publicly and lead the beating.
