&lt;p&gt;It is not unusual for large companies (that claim they are innovative) to develop products according to established and measured performance values, then lose market share to ’inferior’ products (according to the previously mentioned performance metrics)-simply because a smaller company has designed it with that certain je ne sais quoi.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I would also add the following guidelines to GROW!(tm):&lt;br /&gt;
*G*et out of the way!! Don’t let your ego get in the way.  Let people be people and don’t stifle their need to improvise and come up with solutions!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;*R*eward Risk taking and innovative thinking.  Nothing helps innovation like knowing that someone has “got your back” &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;*O*bstacle removal.  You’re trying to do everything at breakneck speed-get the obstacles to success out of the way so you don’t trip! What are the obstacles?&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;You&#039;re right on!  There are too many sports teams that buy only &quot;A&quot; and &quot;B&quot; players and they don&#039;t always win.  Teams win because they are:&lt;br /&gt;
a) Working together&lt;br /&gt;
b) Team members are playing to their strengths and being given opportunities to succeed (i.e. Their strengths actually fit their roles.)  &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Both of these seem self evident but I have witnessed this first hand both playing on championship sports teams and in the business world. If people can fill the proper roles and play to their strengths, they will be happy, productive and will contribute to victory.&lt;/p&gt;
