While I am for alternative energies because we have to get away from foreign oil I don't agree that any effort should be subsidized just look at ethanol it can't survive without subsidy and is hurting the consumer because corn is more expensive because farmers would rather sell it for ethanol as well as not grow other crops because it is now artificially more profitable to sell corn than any other crop, what are we going to do once no one wants to grow anything but corn? Subsidize some other crop? It is a vicious cycle.

@Ariel, first I am astonished that is the only thing you picked from my response I see you are already trying to pigeon hole me. Now no I would not want a corporation as the watchdog but I would offer a better solution of a naturalist organization such as the Audubon Society or Nature Conservancy because there sole motivation is to protect and conserve nature. For example The Audubon Society's Rainey Wildlife Sanctuary partially supports itself with natural gas wells operated in an ecologically sound manner.

@Ariel, first by fine I did not mean money I was implying the stigma as suggested in the article, Also no where in this article is it saying it would report on the government unless you count reporting to the government it only mentions companies and their consumers, last time I checked the government did not have consumers, they consume us.

Who's the greatest polluter of all? The oil companies? The chemical companies? The nuclear power plants? If you guessed "none of the above," you'd be correct. Our government, at the federal, state, and local levels, is the single greatest polluter in the land. In addition, our government doesn't even clean up its own garbage! So is the EPA going to enforce its policies on "the government"? My guess is no because it doesn't make sense to fine yourself. Wake up people!

Here are two big issues that says we shouldn't help at all!

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/WallStreet/story?id=6285739&page=1

And then you have the "jobs bank" program introduced in the 80's that guarantees nearly full wages and benefits when the automaker eliminates work or closes factories.

Give me a break let them give up the jets and the ridiculous idea of getting paid for doing nothing. They need to have concessions from both management and the unions and if
the government(us) gives them a bailout it will be business as usual.

I agree with Larry, You've seen "Daktari"? The weaker animals always go. So the kids cry when you tie an old tiger to a tree and shoot him. But that's life! America's in a state of renewal. We've gotta have the strength to tie a few companies to a tree and bash 'em with a shovel.

I love how most of you love Obama, I am being sacastic ofcourse, neither candidate has the right idea Obama is a socialist hands down, a good speaker yes a leader no, McCain despite all of his efforts to be a "maverick" is a joke, what we need is far less spending and less taxes keep government out they only cause more problems just look at the track record on anything they touch.

Aaron like I said before if you want to pay more taxes go ahead and pay them the IRS will willing take it, as for my mountain of money that I wish I had I would give to charitable organizations as I do now I just think private people can do better than government given their track record with Social security, medicare and their own cafeteria in the capital that they cant run or manage. Maybe you just dont get it if you like Socialism then move to Venezuela or the like. "There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion.
