Fast Talk Response -

In some cases, yes. I voluntarily pay ~$20.00 per month on my electricity bill to ensure that a share of power equivalent to my consumption comes from wind, solar, or hydro.

Comment on Node ant

I believe it is helpful to think of this area in two ways: 1) there is the social "responsibility" mindset, which I argue is somewhat reactive (responsive) in nature, and, 2) there is the social "mission" mindset, where an organization goes above and beyond and actually makes doing good a part of its mission and intent. So, you may want to think about how you are coving your bases in terms of the impact of your operations, but also how you are proactivly acting on your beliefs as an organzation.

Comment on Node ant

Not intended to edit this site but as a general discussion ... is there a better phrase and lexicon for "social responsibility?" Something that is more ... interesting, compelling, inspiring? Something less, well, responsible? In all the focus group testing I have done over the years, people cringe at the word "responsibility." Just wondering.

Today’s heroes?

Who are today’s heroes of social responsibility? While corporate irresponsibility and social problems grab the headlines, examples of goodness, courage, and selflessness exist quietly all around us. Help tip the scales toward optimism and set the bar for social responsibility by sharing inspiring stories of doing good...

Today’s most urgent issues?

What are today’s most urgent corporate social responsibility issues? There is certainly no shortage of causes and crises around the world today. How do we identify today’s most pressing breaches and most promising opportunities in corporate social responsibility?

What is the role of the individual in corporate social responsibility?

It is easy to cast blame on corporations for irresponsible actions. After all, that’s one reason corporations are created. But, ultimately, corporate behavior is about individual people making individual decisions and choices. What are the dynamics between personal ethics and corporate behavior?

How heavy is the burden of social responsibility?

How far must an organization go to be socially responsible? Is it enough for a corporation to minimize the adverse impacts of its operations, or must it do more – and how much more - to be deemed socially responsible? What is the definition and standard of responsibility and who gets to decide?
