How and why would I change OpenID.

Identity Management has been a pretty hot topic for a while now. As some digital providers getting more traction and recognition from large companies such as Microsoft, Google and Yahoo - I looked at OpenID ( http://openid.net/ ) to see how it works. In short OpenID eliminates the need to enter your information when trying to register with websites, providing a single URL with all the info as an alternative. The URL can come from providers such as Yahoo or Google, but it can also come from your own website.

Something tells me that Mike is right by saying that upper-comers have a great opportunity with seizing the moment with geo-location aware apps. While Facebook and MySpace have valid concerns and reasons for security tightening, the technology is there and that niche will be filled by someone.

Fast Talk Response -

Companies are waiting it out, they've done the same thing back in the day with XP. Vista is way to expensive given a stable OS such as XP Sp3 is now. Vista will get better as the Service Packs become introduced, they have done it before, they'll do it again.

The importance of social networks and it's growing responsibility in the society.

How many times we've heard that we live in technology driven and technology oriented societies ? It would be safe to say that everyone in western world knows that, some live by it and some just take advantage by using what's available to fulfill their end goals.

There is a pretty big group of fortune 500 companies that are already employing wikis / forums / even blogs - well protected within their own zone 3 / intranet infrastructure. The same goes for Instant messaging - and while IMs and E-mail clients are somehow better protected and usually tailored to their security needs - wikis / forums and blogs are still in their Enterprise Infancy and most often companies are using the free - out of the box solutions from Wordpress / blog / etc /etc...
