I didn't know that Harvard had a corner on adaptive leadership, but I believe the adaptive leader has a much better chance of achieving a successful outcome. This adaptive style means that a leader will find himself setting aside his first assumptions and listening closely to those he is leading. He will consider the contributions to be from equals and will often find himself adopting the viewpoints of others. This ability to listen and mold a plan based on the pooled knowledge and ideas of the group will most often result in a solid plan of action.
