The biggest problem with the whole religious argument with Darwin, is that so many in the Christian Right refuse to acknowledge the possibility that evolution doesn't have to deny Creation and vice-versa. The Bible is a story (or more accurately, a collection of stories). Genesis was never intended to present a scientific account of man's beginnings - it is filled with metahor and symbolism. To me, evolution, and other sciences like astronomy, reveal more about God, not refute everything he says.

Sort of. Thing is we've been in the crisis for quite some time... it's only now starting to become painfully evident. We're witnessing the decline of an empire. Sad, but true. We're where Great Britain was in the late 19th century --- becoming a has been... unless we make some really drastic changes.

C'mon. Isn't this whole thing like the uncool kid in school trying to show that he really is cool... which actually just makes him more uncool?

Microsoft is not cool. It's utilitarian.

eBay has some work to do, but they're a giant and a pioneer. I wouldn't count them out. In fact, I'd be astonished if they didn't reinvent themselves and come roaring back (they'd be foolish not to)...

"MySpace, the future of music"? Pretty presumptive. Spoken like a man who's trying to convince himself that the price tag was worth it... Certainly what MySpace has done to music is the future of music. But MySpace itself is not the future...

Depends on whether or not they share the same customer base... It also depends on what folks are streaming those videos to. For example, iTunes often streams video to an iPod; would Amazon work with various players or just on desktops? Hmmm...

Alder - I think you're right on the money. And, I would argue, this has application far beyond the creative sector. It's a rule that's quickly becoming very real in any business. Broad thinkers who "get it" and can execute in a win-win way for everyone involved are what we need in business. Those folks are few and far between (15% is awfully generous)...
