When you are the frontrunner, such a move would be pathetic and reactionary. What Apple should ( and I believe will ) do is wait, see how all that pans out and then apply the best practices to their system. I'm not convinced that all this openness will not just result in alot of junk, viruses and/or malware that will just turn off most people.

Clearly down the road the iPhone will become more open but I don't think the G1 model of openness will be what Apple goes for.

Fast Talk Response -

Clearly hot. Look we're in crisis mode right now and this is the time when ideas and solutions are at a premium. While most don't like the bailout plan I think it's the best solution to such a problem.

The guy isn't sitting on his hands. He is putting all the cards on the table and telling us like it is and the truth to what's needed to get the economy back on track. Totally respect the guy.

I enjoy shopping and doing social things. I lead a foodie groups on Facebook and we go out every week to a new restaurant, eat, talk and have fun. I admit that I could scale that back but it's fun and I like good food. Truth is I'm going to actually up the social calendar since Fall is here and Winter is on the way ( my two favorite seasons ) and to support that I just have to make adjustments in other places and just make more money.

Unnecessary? Maybe but all work and no play makes Douglas just another unhappy, cranky, bitter, angry American.

It's the classic catch 22 on the moral hazard issue. In a perfect world we could leave all these companies to feel the full weight of their actions so that and others that come after them will learn and never do this stuff again. Unfortunately doing so would create such chaos that in the end the harm caused would outweigh whatever lesson you are trying to teach.

Fast Talk Response -

Clearly. One of the great things about this country is that we attract the best and the brightest from everywhere. Things may not always pan out as they may plan but they get a better shot to make it here than they get anywhere else on the planet. By limiting visas America is hurting itself in a few ways, not the least of which being the economy. The keywords here is "highly skilled." This means that there is a great likelihood that these people will not only fill positions but will fill position that impact our society in a big way.

"Significantly" might be too strong a word but I think the general idea here is correct. Public companies are obviously on the stock market and everyone there is being hit. Investors are getting out quickly and, until the housing market stabilizes, will stay out because it's just too volatile. This provides start-up are a great opportunity to get dollars that wouldn't usually be available to them. Investors pulling back on stock investment will look to engage start-ups.

I don't believe Wendy's 1980 "Where's the Beef" slogan isn't on this list. Maybe it's before Digg users time but I thought that commercial campaign was timeless. Maybe not but it's tops on my list for sure.

@Tyler Adams I'm feeling the same thing. I might get a few of them and match things up, lol.

Seriously though, it's clearly not just for ladies but I wouldn't be surprised to see more women buy this than guys and guys buy the iPod Classic more than ladies.

I agree but with reluctance. Clearly there is something about the brains of a leader that allows them to do what they do ( inspire, calm, listen and etc. ) but I also believe that great leaders have wisdom that goes beyond brain chemistry, neurons and the like. Obviously this study speaks about one facet of leadership but even in this case, the ability to do and the wisdom to know when to do is the difference between a leader and a great leader.

My Open Letter to Twitter

To the good people at Twitter, I have one thing to say: Know and accept who you are!

I say this because of your recent decision to begin placing ads on your Twitter sites. I know you’ve stated that you won’t put ads on Twitter.com, but I believe that like I believe Ralph Nader has a real shot at the White House. Money talks in business and if your test runs in Japan and elsewhere show some promising signs of bringing in the dough, I am sure we are going to see some backtracking that would make Deion Sanders proud.
