Counting the visits to my online ranting as they click-through, how many peope visit your links on twitter?

I am a big fan of microblogs. I’ve launched a shorter URL tool to reduce the length of
your long, permalink blog URL. It will make a short url like http://rant.cc/JPh

Ever wonder how many people visit your links, as they click-through? ... Shorter URL site LIVE, with visit counting feature in real time.... http://rant.cc/dY4

I would suggest that businesses seriously consider self hosted wiki/forums or other web-based application for collaboration among teams and also to support a positive company coulture. When employees are plugged-in often this generates a sense of belonging and ownership. I also believe that using an internal server to run a chat service along the lines of twitter would also help the team share their passion for business.

All the push for music content in the store didn't work well for me. Free songs on iTunes, or access to wifi and browsing for music on my iPhone didn't pan out either. It does seem that Starbucks is however doing a great job at coffee, since I hated coffee until I first tried Starbucks in Santa Monica back in '91. I'll just play my tunes on my iPhone / iPod while drinking the drink of the century at Starbucks. I only think the brand was very slightly diluted. I actually enjoy watching companies do things that may be risky.

Search is serious business, Google dominates, but Yahoo is willing to hold on and keep running the race. Microsoft will try to buy their way in if it takes too long to build up their own market share. It would be nice to see some more options in quality search. With the popularity of social media It would be nice to see Mahalo become a big player with their human powered search site.

It seems like the traditional corporate businesses often need to see a marketing tactic proven, while the younger generation is growing up with new media and social networking as just part of normal life. The active social media audience basically works of the proven and old fashion word-of-mouth (WOM) principles of accepting referrals from trusted connections. Last time I checked, WOM is still very highly effective in the business marketplace.

This may not be an indicator of recession, search engine news sources report that Google has restructured their AdSense program to produce more relevant ads. In doing so this limits the clicks charged to AdWords advertisers that were generated from less than desirable web sites, built perhaps just for making money on accidental clicks.

So, I ask myself... why does everyone want to bite the Apple? Perhaps it takes good? They seem to know their evangelists well. Perhaps all businesses should get to know their clients well enough to take a risk in offending them. It makes an opportunity to reconcile the offense, and gets press coverage. Some believe even bad press is good, it gets people talking.
