Fast Talk Response -

Closing 600 stores is only one of the ways where there could be a gap created for competition.

The Starbucks brand was built on selling you an experience, not just a coffee. Starbucks growth has made it difficult in some markets to retain top talent and training the new recruits on the experiential side of the business takes time.

People will pay five bucks for a coffee when the Sbux rep remembers their order, smiles, jokes and even knows their name.

Fast Talk Response -

Maybe if you have been laid off you need to ask yourself if you really want another JOB?

Seems to me a time like this might be a good time to consider becoming self employed. You could even approach the company who laid you off and see if they would hire your business, after all if they are laying people off they are going to need some help.

Fast Talk Response -

As someone who owns a wireless retail store I think that there are many good reasons to consider purchasing a headset. If you are at all concerned about the long term use of a cell phone then using a headset is a good option for you. However, the bigger safety issue is the way people drive while talking on their cell phones. Unfortunately there will be more deaths caused by negligent drivers who are talking and texting most likely than by a spike in brain cancer.

Comment on Node ant

I loved this article, thank you for making me think about different ways to market our business and for seeing just how exponential a referral network on line can be. Consider the amount of money and or time you would invest in your site, and then take the number of people you would like to network with and multiply it by the cost of a stamp. Sites like Ning, Facebook etc can do so much for our businesses if only we take the time to learn how to do it right. And by that I mean, make it real so people want to play versus contrived.

Fast Talk Response - 880201

So what is next? Do we veto someone being able to walk their dog by our home, do we prevent people from being able to look up an address in the phone book, do we veto someones right to take a picture of the flower bed on your front lawn just because it looks beautiful to them? The media can create intense fear for a few people over topics like this, but at the end of the day we live in a free country and doesn't that give us the right to view each others dwellings from afar?

Fast Answer -

I love my Blackberry! I own a wireless store in Canada and we sell Blackberry devices 20 to 1 compared to a traditional PDA. Windows Mobile just does not have the same appeal. People cannot handle the freezing screen syndrome! Blackberry error rates are significantly lower, and client satisfaction rates for our location are significantly higher. I am currently using the Blackberry Curve. I love the multiple email accounts, ease of uploading pictures to facebook, emailing etc. And messenger is great!

Fast Talk Response -

Ego, greed and too much self confidence can bring out the very worst in people in any level of an organization. People are capable of behaving in a dishonest manner to protect their ego which is fueled by self confidence that makes them beleive that they cannot or will not be caught. You see it in all areas of business, from the retail sales floor to the CEO's office, the only difference as mentioned previously is the media attention is not quite the same for a kid making minimum wage on a shop floor.

Fast Talk Response -

It is interesting to note the difference in responses by gender. Most men are saying no, most of the women are saying yes. My question is who really makes the decision at the supermarket for most of these new green products? Ladies, I think most of use like to feel good about our purchases and paying $0.30 more on a box of coffee filters that are "green" for example does not require me to be upper middle class or affluent by any stretch.

Fast Talk Response -

I agree, ticking time bombs. People want authenticity from business today, that and service. Flogs are just another form of trickery that attempts to undermine your customers common sense.
