Fast Talk Response -

Yes. I'm a beer snob, not the uberest of beer snobs, but I still enjoy an iced-cold Bud on a hot day, and I actually LIKE Michelob Light if one has calorie-concious folks in the mix. But, essentially, America has no beer as Canadia, SA, and Belgium have taken over all the major brands; there's a hole for a mid-major to step up and dominate. This happens a lot when a popular regional bank is taken over by a much larger bank; folks flock to another larger regional bank. So it will be. Sure, the big dog will still do well, but this is a boon for somebody... if they step up.

How would this play out in industries that involve Billions of dollars (think: big Pharma) to put out a single product?

Fast Talk Response -

I'm not at all. I have a secure job, and live in the DC area where housing prices need to fall for my wife and I to get into the market. If we decide not to buy, then I'll pour my money into biotech at the trough, and put it into a house when we want to. Biotech is finally ready for long-term investment and I don't need a house if I'm uncertain about it. If a recession is going to deepen, I say, live more frugal and make the most of the time to invest in the future innovators.

Tesco's 'Fresh and Easy?' How innovative can that be? Trader Joe's has been around for years, and the concept sounds the same. They sell organics for prices you'd normally see for non-organic/natural at the grocery store, have fresh meat and produce, and are indeed just slightly larger than a 7-11. And yet, Trader Joes' has just about everything you need. They had $1 cliff bars while everyone else still had them $1.50-2.00.
