FAST COMPANY: What quote, lyric or poem inspires you?

KEN REES: Despite having a terrible memory for quotes, I've always remembered the line from Sun Tzu that goes something like "Retreat like a moving mountain, advance like a rainstorm." I think it's always stayed with me because it's really a mandate to be relentless in the face of adversity yet take advantage of opportunities when they arise -- and like all entrepreneurs, I've had plenty of both. So it's a good thing to keep in mind.

Question

What quote, lyric or poem inspires you?

A financial services industry veteran, Ken Rees joined Think Finance in 2004. Prior to Think Finance, Ken was CEO of CashWorks, a leading provider of non-bank financial services with over 2,500 locations nationwide (acquired by GE in 2004). Earlier in his career, Ken ran CSC Index's west coast financial services practice, managing large scale consulting projects in North America and Asia. Ken graduated from Reed College with a degree in mathematics and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago.
When he's not working (which is rare) he collects wine, reads voraciously, and is a member of the Think Finance cycling team (often pointing out that he's not the slowest member).
