NIRAV TOLIA: The best way for a leader to inspire is to lead by example. It's obviously important to have a really clear vision, it's important to come up with an innovative strategy, but ultimately, I think people most respect actions. It's about actions, not words, and so if your behavior inspires, that's the right way to build a truly durable company.

Nirav Tolia is Co-Founder and CEO of Nextdoor, a consumer Internet startup that is dedicated to helping neighbors create happier and safer neighborhoods. Nextdoor is a free and private social network for neighborhoods. Nextdoor is funded by Benchmark Capital, where Nirav served as an Entrepreneur in Residence. Prior to Benchmark, Nirav was COO of Shopping.com, a company created through the merger of DealTime and Epinions, whereNirav was Co-Founder and CEO. Prior to Epinions, Nirav was an early employee at Yahoo!. He graduated from Stanford University and is originally from Odessa, Texas.
