FAST COMPANY: How has being a father made you a better team player?
DWYANE WADE: Being a father has made me a better team player and leader because, first of all, it's made me step up in my own household and lead, as well as mature me. So, I understand now what's most important. It's not about yourself and your individualism, it's about the team. I have a team at home and I also have a team on the court, and I try to do the same thing in both arenas.
How has being a father made you a better team player?
Dwyane Wade is an eight-time All-Star, two-time NBA champion, and star guard on the Miami Heat. His Wade’s World Foundation has contributed millions of dollars to benefit children and families across America, and President Obama recently appointed him to help lead a program geared toward encouraging fathers to become more involved in their children’s lives. In September, 2012, he released a book, A Father First, about his life as a divorced dad and his public court case to gain sole custody of his two sons.
