FC Discussion
Stelios' unconventional approach to cinema may change the way we watch and pay for movies. Go to the movies as a group on an off-peak night and observe the crowds, concession lines and prices. Buy your tickets in advance through Fandango or Moviefone. Discuss the convenience charge of buying in advance, compared to lower rates at Stelios' theatre. Would your group members want to go to an easyCinema with unknown prices? What services might soon be made available on a sliding price scale?
Is Des Moines really the hippest city in the country? Explore what makes your city 'hip.' Is it the entertainment, business culture, nothing? Go out and meet some of your city's hip-and-happening people at lounges, boutiques and galleries. Check out any hip schools taking a new approach to education. Can you finger what it is about your city that drives or repels businesses from setting up shop there? Does anyone in your city have a work campus like Principal in Des Moines? If so arrange a tour. What else could be done in your town to bridge the gap between employees' work and home lives?
Much like an efficient business, a football team can't be successful unless there is cohesion among the players. Bob Ladouceur certainly knows this. Spend a Friday (or Saturday) night under the lights at a high school or local college football game. Observe the coordination among the offense and defense units and how they make adjustments on the fly. How does this relate to crisis managment in business? Ladouceur's team often has faced better teams from bigger schools and won; what tactics can a small business use to win a contract when competing against a larger firm with more money?
