Apple is well known for their innovation and it is correct in many a terms. Every feature is well designed and for a purpose which will be used by Most of the users. This is adding Expertise to innovation.
Apple,, overpriced, espedcially for the upcoming economy. I would never buy one. Oh Yea, there are a few million feeble minded americans who will believe anything they are told. There are also millions more who are smarter than a 5th grader.
Innovative but practical too: the Mac is a wonderful example of a "total product."
As far as arrogance goes, doesn't the perception of arrogance come automatically to any company that, despite better products, has a small market share? Think about it: when you assert the superiority of the Mac, you're saying that the great bulk of all computer users - those that chose a PC - are ignorant and uninformed. Thus, it isn't surprising that people will think that Apple is arrogant.
They are not innovative. They are only improving existing products by following the same "innovation model"-- make faster, thinner than existing products.
I would agree with Tom. It's the experience that matters most. I have seen some small companies whose products are not as sophisticated as others but they thrive. Why? They were able to take care of their customers by merely providing them their basic need. It's about packaging and sustaining and consistency in positioning. Take ipod for example. What does it do? If you study its features, it's not really a must-have gadget. However, they were the first to introduce it and make it appear as something revolutionary, one of its kind in the industry, trendy and durable. Apple is just able to deliver and demonstrate its promise. Thus, making them the leader. Again, innovation is nothing without delivery of promise and consistency of positioning. Then, comes the right to be arrogant.
Innovative. But beyond their products, I think that the service experience and their retail marketing is the point that makes Apple so special. Think about it, they are the industry standard for service and they surprise customers that have had so many poor experiences with service with other brands. I think that makes the brand so valuable in a 360 degrees view.

Matt CookeInnovative for sure. Wintel PC use is a constant frustration after using a MAC. WYSWYG must be an Apple Mac acronym!
