Varonis addresses every organization’s fundamental need to safeguard, monitor and manage its mission critical and proprietary data. Unstructured data such as documents, CAD data, media files, blueprints, spreadsheets and presentations, comprise more than 80% of an organization’s information assets, and grows 100% year over year. Yet, this data is often “unprotected” because access control is manual and its rate of growth outpaces the ability of humans to lock it down. This means that management and control of unstructured data is a fundamental business imperative for every organization.
The Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) recently reported that the number of data breaches in the first three months of 2008 more than doubled over the same period last year. In particular, insider data breaches in the business community have been on the rise:
• 219 IRS employees were caught browsing through confidential taxpayer information
• A disgruntled Florida woman who thought she was going to be fired deleted $2.5 million in files
