Rob Gardos, GridApp Systems1

CEO
New York - NY United States

The big idea: In 25 words or less, please tell us how this Fast 50 Nominee is helping to address the planet's problems.

GridApp confronts business dilemmas – talent shortages and tighter budgets. With automation, skilled workers focus on revenue and strategy while novice employees execute business continuity responsibilities.

Please describe how this nominee is using business as a force of positive change. What technology, idea, or strategy is the nominee using -- and what problem, such as global warming, poverty, or pollution, does it address? (suggested length: 100 words)

The rise of the machines has been unfairly articulated – in movies, in the media and in business discussions. Automation has been seen on many levels as anything but a force of positive change in the world and for business. On the contrary, with today’s shortage of skilled workers and given the unstable economy, business decision makers have found themselves in a catch 22 – they can pay a premium and hire more expert IT staff, thus taking a toll on their budget – or they can tighten their purse strings and work their existing employees to death, thus becoming victims of high employee turn-over and poor job performance.

There has to be a better a way – a way to keep everyone employed and still allow businesses to come out on top. The answer is automation. With automation tools, such as GridApp Clarity, existing high-level IT experts are free to stop “pushing buttons” – tasks that with automation tools can be given to less skilled workers – and can focus on strategy and revenue-generating practices. Meanwhile, entry and mid-level workers can take on roles that were traditionally reserved for the IT industry experts. And, with the checks and balances in place with automation tools, business leaders can rest assured that jobs are being performed to their satisfaction. This not only provides more opportunity for our national talent pool, it also helps organizations that have become even more budget-conscious.

Every company in the world has databases that need to be managed and audited – and with GridApp Clarity’s database automation software, businesses can relax knowing that huge expense are being cut – and skilled workers are being utilized to their utmost potential – while also providing jobs for less-accomplished professionals.

What are the results, both financial and social? How has the nominee's business performed, and what impact has it had on the problem it addresses? (suggested length: 100 words)

Information technology is constantly changing and evolving, enabling the enterprise to accomplish tasks that were once inconceivable. Behind the scenes of innovation are database administrators – constantly learning to keep up with the demand and speaking a language that is foreign to most. GridApp Clarity has enabled DBA’s to actually deploy and manage new technologies with automation. Automation affords them the ability to worry less about the nitty-gritty, push-button tasks, in order to focus on higher-level thinking. In turn, companies no longer have to pay high-level DBA’s to do junior-level tasks, saving reducing costs and allowing more time for creative genius.

This is fantastic! I have spent over a year searching for tools which would allow my to leverage my automation, and quite honestly this entry is more than icing on my cake. What is an ice cream sundae without a cherry? I'll tell you - it's a non-automated hell is what that is.

Thank you and thank my lucky stars!
