Polar Explorer, Special Envoy to the Director General of UNESCO

In May 1989, Robert Swan became the first person to have walked to both North and South Poles. During this, his North Pole or 'Icewalk' expedition, Robert led a involved 22 students from 15 nations who worked alongside scientists in the Arctic at 'Eureka' Station. Having witnessed the effects of environmental damage, having walked under the hole in the ozone layer in Antarctica, and having seen the melting of the Arctic ice cap, Robert is committed to linking industry and business with environment protection.

Robert holds the Polar Medal, is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, an honorary Professor of the Leeds Metropolitan University, Doctor of Letters of Robert Gordon University and has recently been honored with an OBE by Her Majesty; Queen Elizabeth II.
