Invented, built, packaged . . . now what do I do?

Posted by Andy Beaulieu on September 19, 2008 at 10:43 am

I invented a thing* in 2006, submitted a patent application, and since then spent time sourcing the parts, creating packaging, and sending out samples.  People who bought one from me (a couple holiday gift shows) really liked it, but that doesn't get me into stores or in the door with a manufacturer.  I know there are "invention agencies" who would be happy to take on the quest for licensing but their track record does not seem good (bordering on unethical).  I built a website and have tried to do some promotion on my own, but it is really not picking up any momentum.  Any other suggestions?  I don't think I've exhausted nearly all the avenues yet.  This product doesn't warrant advertising, it is more of an inexpensive impulse purchase and just needs to show up in plaes where people will see it.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

If it helps, the invention is called "The Clutch for Packages" and you can learn more about it on my website: www.freewebs.com/buytheclutch.  It is like a little leash for purses, take-out food, and other packages on the passenger seat of your car, securing them in place against toppling / sliding onto the floor while you drive.
