A few years ago I learned the hard way how important it is to listen to your natural instincts ( i.e. your gut ) when making an important hire.
I decided to hire a designer who was a real go-getter over a designer who was more polished. My gut told me to go with the more polished designer but the go-getter designer impressed me with his enthusiasm and approach. Big mistake! Hiring him cost me time, money and a lucrative contract. My gut was right all along and I should have listened.
Sometimes you have to ignore the rules of hiring and just listen to your gut about a person regardless of how impressed you may be with them.
Ever been there?
