Depends on what is meant by "social life." Obviously, there are countless examples of socially awkward or even inept people making it big.

I would say that, in general, one has to be engaged in meaningful and authentic relationships to be successful. Life is about relationships and, as an extension, business is about relationships.

What qualifies as authentic? People need to know that you care about them and their own success. Traditional networking does not qualify as authentic. But connecting with people and truly helping them out because you care about their own success and believe in their own product or services. Giving with no expectation of getting something in return. If people have an authentic relationship with you, believe in your character and your skills, they will most likely do business with you or send business your way.

Get connected, seek out and build relationships, be generous with your time, your talent and your contact list, and reap the rewards.
