Suggesting a discussion on social issues seems a bit behind the curve. It appears that differing views on any subject can be heard on radio, TV, and the web, around the clock. Thinking about this brought a thought which I need to explore for my own convictions. Where was the constructive dialogue between groups who have opposite views on issues. For the purpose of truly helping this world move forward, where is the forum for people to truly define their differences, find out what they can work together on, and use shared resources to better tackle a given issue. With so many world changing issues before us, it is past time to GROW UP, and find a way to move great ideas forward. It is time to get results which benefit all of mankind.
This post is my starting point in researching, developing, and challenging those that would listen, attempting to get the right action in order to help worthwhile causes around the nation and the world.
An example: Bob is a conservative leader in a fundamental church. He also is an executive in an international distribution company, with the ability to establish pick up and delivery anywhere in the world. John is a gay rights activist, who specializes in operational procedures for small businesses. He can analize any operation, and set up the most productive procedures for acheiving the best results.
These two would never meet in social circles, and would probably dispute each other on what true freedom and civil liberties really are. However, both have a genuine concern for the plight of starving and exploited children in South America. Each has said a prayer at night for these precious youngsters who were born into poverty and abuse.
Imagine if these two could use the unique tools and skills they possess, in order to get positive results for those children they both have compassion for. Now multiply that by one hundred other people with similar dispositions.
What if Bob and John meet, and at the end of their discussion resolve:
- We individually deplore the thinking of the other on lifestyle, the purpose of marraige, community property, etc.
- Both believe the other is going to burn in hell if they don't repent of their ways
- Each acknowledge that they do not intend to support each other in any normal social endeavor.
- We accept that we both have talents which can compliment each other if used together properly
- We have a shared concern and compassion for the children in South America, and want to do something to help
- We agree to work together on this problem, giving the glory to God and the compassionate Human Spirit.
Both offer their services to an idependant organization which is dedicated to saving as many children in South America as possible. As a result, a more effecient means of exporting/importing needed supplies and services is put into place, and better results are acheived.
"They may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one . . ."
"Suffer the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven."
We argue, they die. We party, they are abused. We remain spectators, they remain uneducated and alone. Rather than spending all of our time on debating what is or is not a real problem, why not focus on problems everyone recognizes, and start there. Is there a place where resources which compliment each other, can be united? That is what I intend to find out. Any cause, any problem can be solved if good people do something.
Share the cause.
