Many great designers were wired to design things that changed the way the community viewed design. But, what about the rest of the design community. When a great designer mentors younger memebers of the profession to be the best they can be, he is not only doing a service to the designer and design community, but he is doing God's work.
In other words, great design is bigger than the desiger and larger than the sum of its parts. Genius can only go so far to inspire us to achieve greater things. When genius shares the vision with less talented designers, the range of possibilities expands exponentially.
