Spears' public image was dealt more
blows in early 2008, when she lost custody of her children, made several court
appearances, and was placed on involuntary psychiatric hold two times in one
month. Blackout nevertheless won several MTV-sponsored awards, including "Album
of the Year" from the Europe Music Awards in November 2008. That same fall, the
leadoff single from Spears' next record, "Womanizer," became her first number
one single in nearly a decade. The full-length Circus arrived in December,
featuring a mix of syrupy ballads and uptempo dance numbers that were designed
to fuel Spears' comeback. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
VMA winner Chris
Brown is once again hard at work with his "Kiss Kiss" collaborator, T-Pain. The
two recently teamed up for the video of Pain's new single "Freeze," from his
Thr33 Ringz album, which is scheduled for release on November 11.
"This
video is fun," Brown told MTV News on the set for the video. " 'Freeze' is one
of those songs that kind of reminds me of the '80s, with the visual effects and
everything. It's one of the records that me and Pain got to collaborate on, just
like 'Kiss Kiss.' "
Biohazard next signed to Mercury Records
and released New World Disorder in 1999. The guys left the label following its
merger with Universal and harkened back to their D.I.Y. days with a tour of
Europe and Japan without label or managerial support. The rarities collection
Tales from the B-Side followed in 2001, along with their next full-length,
Uncivilization. Guitarist Leo Curley exited the group following the album's
release. Kill or Be Killed appeared two years later and featured new axeman
Carmine Vincent (ex-Nucleus), who had previously roadied for the band. Means to
an End, Biohazard's eighth and final album, was issued in August 2005 on SPV.
Graziadei went on to form Suicide City with ex-members of Groovenics and Kittie.
Meanwhile, Seinfeld appeared on the 2006 VH1 reality show Supergroup with Ted
Nugent, Sebastian Bach, Scott Ian, and Jason Bonham. In December of 2007, a live
double-disc CD and accompanying DVD titled Live in San Francisco was released,
documenting one of their last shows together as a band. ~ Steve Huey, All Music

Black Sabbath reunited with Ozzy Osbourne for its set at the Live
Aid concert on July 13, 1985, but soon after the performance, bassist Geezer
Butler left the band, and with that the group became guitarist Tony Iommi's
vehicle, a fact emphasized by the next album, Seventh Star, released in January
1986 and credited to "Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi." On this release, the
lineup was Iommi (guitar); another former Deep Purple singer, Glenn Hughes (b.
Aug 21, 1952) (vocals); Dave Spitz (bass); Geoff Nichols (keyboards); and Eric
Singer (drums). The album was a modest commercial success, but the new band
began to fragment immediately, with Hughes replaced by singer Ray Gillen for the
promotional tour in March 1986.

Brooks One of the most recognizable characters in modern-day R&B,
Beyoncé first rose to fame as the siren-voiced centerpiece of Destiny's Child
before embarking on a multi-platinum solo career in 2001. Booming record sales,
Grammy awards, movie roles, and a romance with rapper/CEO Jay-Z combined to
heighten her profile in the 2000s, making the singer a virtual mainstay in the
entertainment world. While some media outlets derisively championed Paris Hilton
as "the next Marilyn Monroe," Beyoncé was a much better contender for the role,
her glittering pop culture persona only matched by her success onscreen and on
record.
2005 was no less eventful for Spears. She released Greatest
Hits: My Prerogative that January, but it was the announcement of her pregnancy
that really garnered the headlines. Sean Preston Federline was born in
September, and a bidding war ensued for first rights to the baby photos. As the
hubbub surrounding Sean's birth continued, Britney released a remix album just
in time for the holiday season. In 2006, Spears discovered she was pregnant
again; shortly after the birth of her second son, Jayden James Federline, she
divorced Federline, thus sparking a long string of custody battles that were
eventually settled in Federline's favor. Following another headline-grabbing
incident in early 2007 (in which Spears spontaneously shaved her head at a salon
in Tarzana, CA, much to the delight of nearby photographers), Spears sought help
at Malibu's Promises Treatment Center. After leaving the center, she began
working on her comeback album and performed a few small shows at House of Blues
locations in Los Angeles, San Diego, Anaheim, and Las Vegas that May. Despite
ongoing turmoil in her life that summer and fall -- including a disastrous
performance at MTV's Video Music Awards -- Blackout arrived in October 2007. It
proved to be her least successful album to date, charting three Top 40 hits but
failing to achieve platinum certification within its first year of release.
